Together, we can stop deleterious aging now.
It is clear to me from my work with primate caloric restriction, the latest genetic engineering breakthroughs and with each transgenic mouse as proof of principle, we now can extend the healthy life span of lower animals, including mammals. It is my strong belief that there is no reason to think we couldn't do the same today with humans.
Having said that, we are far from being able to stop aging, as we know it, and thus we need to focus our efforts to achieve that goal now. Only efforts that fall short of actually stopping deleterious aging will actually lead to aging interventions that will make healthy lifespan extension a reality in the very near future. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this foundation is to foster new intervention strategies and bring them to the forefront of research efforts, so that we can add life to years and not simply years to life.
We have a unique approach that will structure useful dialog and foster the exchange of ideas in a way that will generate proposals that could or should be explored. We will also provide an educational resource to anyone interested in Aging intervention Strategies.
